| The discontinued DHLA carburetor is widely believed to
be the most sophisticated carburetor of it's type, prompting David Vizzard
to say in Auto Performance magazine, ?Dell?Orto?s produce truly
excellent results...On engines where atomization is a premium requirement,
Dellorto's are superior to everything?.
Our vendor in Europe has been Dellorto's importer since 1968, and is
probably the only company in the world outside the factory who?s sole
business is Dell?Orto carburetors. They have a lot of parts that
Dell?Orto in Italy doesn?t stock any more, and they?re
re-manufacturing certain parts that are no longer available.
Before Dell?Orto stopped production of automobile carburetors,
Dell?Orto?s were fitted as standard equipment to Alfa Romeo and Lotus,
until the catalytic converter killed the carburettor off for new cars in
1992. There were a number of carburetor conversion kits produced,
including those for 1980`s Fords & English Vauxhalls. They still have
large stocks of new carburetors there, although the DHLA48 (Loved by Mazda
RX7 enthusiasts) is no longer available.
The last carburetors Dell?Orto produced were the unique 'tri-jet'
DHLA45?s for Lotus, which as well as an idle and main circuit, has a
power jet circuit for extra enrichment at high revs. This system was also
fitted to the Lotus Esprit Turbo carburetors, which can hold up to 30-PSI
boost pressure. Our supplier stocks every single part for DHLA, & DHLB
carburetors, as well as complete new and some reconditioned units.
